A 70-year-old Lake District walker was airlifted to hospital in Glasgow after falling around 98ft.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called at 2.55pm last Saturday, August 16, to Great Gable.
The team said: “The 70-year-old man was descending towards Windy Gap after an ascent of Great Gable.
“Rather than tackle the steep rocky part for the descent the man made a wide detour, but unfortunately, towards the bottom of the descent, the man fell down the rocky slope.”
The Great North Air Ambulance landed on Great Gable to drop off medical personnel and then flew three members of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team to the scene.
Further team members approached from Honister and the Drum House Track.
The man was assessed and treated on scene before being put in a vacuum mattress and Tyromont stretcher to be picked up by the Coastguard helicopter.
He was flown to Glasgow for treatment.
The team added: “Many thanks to the generous couple who left money behind the bar for team members who were having a post-rescue ‘debrief’ in the Royal Oak in Rosthwaite.”
