Carlisle United are finding out it is going to be tougher than they might have expected in the National League.
Although unbeaten in their three opening games, two home draws have hardly encouraged fans to believe they can bounce straight back into the Football League.
A 1-1 draw last night against Solihull Moors followed Saturday’s 3-3 encounter with Boreham Wood.
Some fellow ex-Football League sides will no doubt provide even stiffer tests for United in the weeks ahead.
It took a close range strike from defender Terell Thomas 10 minutes from time to earn the point.
Solihull were the better side in a goalless first half and were closest to opening the scoring.
They thought they had opened the scoring after 31 minutes but Dan Creaney’s effort was ruled-out for offside.
It was Creaney who did put the Moors in front after 67 minutes when he took advantage of a defensive error to finish clinically.
Ten minutes from time Thomas equalised and in the closing stages Solihull keeper Laurie Walker made two good saves to deny Carlisle a winner they would have hardly deserved.
