A 14-year-old mountain biker suffered a suspected broken hip after a crash in a north Cumbrian wood.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team was called out to Coombs Woods at Armathwaite on Wednesday, August 20, at around 1.35pm.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service also attended and its helicopter crew reached the 14-year-old first.
The mountain rescue team said: “They were able to quickly get to the casualty, assess the injuries and provide pain relief.
“As with similar incidents in this area, Penrith team members deployed to help extract the casualty from the steep woodland.
“He was loaded into a vacuum mattress to help immobilise him and was then stretchered up to the road where he was transferred to an ambulance for onward travel to hospital.”
