Jordan Burns is in line to make his first Whitehaven appearance for four months this weekend.

Burns suffered a bad injury in the derby game with Workington Town on Good Friday but looks ready to return against Newcastle Thunder.

He is named in Anthony Murray’s 21-man squad for this weekend’s trip to take on the side who are still without a point at the foot of the League One table.

But missing out on the trip will be Clarke Chambers after he picked up an injury playing for Kells on dual registration last weekend.

Murray said: “We will be treating Newcastle as if they are league leaders not bottom.

“We want to finish the season strongly and we are going to need to work hard to get a result.

“Newcastle will be looking at our recent record and thinking this could be their week.”

The squad is: Dan Abram, Ethan Bickerdike, Josh Blinkhorn, Brad Brennan, Jordan Burns, Luke Collins, Karl Garner, Ellison Holgate, Connor Holliday, Jack Kellett, Joe Lowe, Rio McQuistan, Max Anderson-Moore, Jack Newbegin, Ellis Nixon, Jake Pearce, Jordan Thomson, Daniel Spencer Tonks, Mitchell Todd, Aaron Turnbull, Jay Weatherill.
