Emergency services were called after reports that a jet-skier and two other people was in trouble in West Cumbria.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team was called yesterday, Sunday August 24, to the River Esk in the Ravenglass Estuary.
Also alerted were Millom and Maryport Coastguard rescue teams, St Bees RNLI and the Coastguard helicopter.
A member of the public had called 999 after spotting the trio in trouble in the water.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Team 4×4 vehicles accessed the estuary and reported the location via Drigg and Eskmeals beaches.
“The casualties were found to be safe and well, but struggling to recover their craft due to the outgoing tide.
“After securing their craft, St Bees RNLI transferred them ashore, where they were escorted back along the beach and to their vehicles at Ravenglass.”
While Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team was responding to this callout, members were also notified that they were needed for a search for a missing person on the cliff paths near St Bees Lighthouse.
The team added: “With our rope rescue and additional equipment left on standby at the lighthouse, in case it should be needed, two search teams were deployed.
“A very short time into the search the missing person was found safe by Coastguard rescue officers and handed into the care of police officers.”
