Carlisle United lost for the first time this season, with Sutton United winning for the first time.
As United are quickly finding out, such are the uncertainties of National League football.
Despite being the dominant side in the first half Carlisle couldn’t find a way through and rather lost their way in the second-half.
They did finish strongly and scored late-on but the 2-1 defeat dropped them to fifth in the table.
Mark Hughes men largely controlled the first-half in pursuit of a third successive win, but there weren’t many good scoring opportunities.
Top-scorer Regan Linney had their best opportunity but Sutton goalkeeper Jack Sims made the save.
Sutton had started to threaten in the last five minutes of the first-half and continued that improvement after the break.
They were quickly rewarded when Albanian defender Edon Pruti headed them in front four minutes after the re-start.
They continued to pose problems as Carlisle became less confident in their approach.
They finally scored a second goal in the 82nd minute when David Ogbanna was sent clear and he lifted the ball over the stranded Gabe Breeze.
In a late push Carlisle had an effort cleared off the line and Sims denied David Ajiboye before Georgie Kelly pulled one back in the fourth minute of time added on.
