People are invited to celebrate the late summer harvest at Dalemain this month.
It takes place at the historic hall, near Penrith, on Sunday September 14 from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
Focusing on Dalemain’s historic apple collection and Dalemain Bees, there will be apple themed food in the tearoom, a free display of the variety of apples with the change to taste test them for yourself.
North Lakes Orchard Group will be juicing apples for free.
Buy some from the stand or bring your own (clean, hand picked and washed, not rotten). You will also need to bring a container for your juice.
Hilary Wilson is doing a garden tour focusing on Dalemain’s historic apple tree collection at 11am and Colin Eastham is doing a talk on bees at 2pm in the kitchen garden.
Heritage apple trees will be for sale – which are perfect for growing in pots, as a patio tree or for a small garden.
Herbs, honey and apples have been harvested from Dalemain and will be served as part of an autumnal menu in the Great Barn Tearoom.
Garden tickets are half price.
The agricultural museum will be open.
