Whitehaven’s presentation night went down especially well last night as it followed the young team’s 28-24 win over champions North Wales Crusaders.
It rounded off what could have been a tricky season with lots of amateur players brought together for semi-professional debuts.
But the general feeling has been that the team has had a very productive campaign with some highly promising talent bedding in well.
Two of those players were announced to a packed JJ McKeown Bar as having agreed contract extensions – Jack Kellett and Mitchell Todd.
The duo have signed for two more years which will see both remain at The Ortus Rec until the end of 2027.
Todd was announced first after picking up the young player of the year award while Kellett was second to be named after sweeping up five awards on the night including players’ player of the year and directors player of the year.
Last night’s announcements are the start of the squad retention for the upcoming 2026 season with more news in the coming weeks.
