This Saturday’s scheduled final race of the 2025 programme has been put back 24 hours.
A Cumbria Combine event from Stratford-upon-Avon, it is still subject to uncertainty because of the weather.
It’s been a frustratingly common problem in what has been a disappointing young bird programme.
Neil Buchanan, race controller for the West Cumbria Amalgamation, said today: “This weekend’s Combine race from Stratford has been put back 24 hours.
“We will once again look at the forecast later today and decide which day is more favourable for a race.”
The Amalgamation suffered particularly severe losses a fortnight ago from Cannock.
When they returned to Cannock last week there were only 302 birds competing but it proved a very good race with nearly all back in quick time.
The Furness Federation, part of the Cumbria Combine did not have the disaster that their west Cumbrian colleagues experienced from the first Cannock race.
