Community radio station CRFM West will officially go on air later this month, broadcasting from Workington.
It will launch live broadcasts from its Dunmail Park studios on Monday September 22 from 8am.
Darrell Thomas, station director, said: “It was always our intention to move into West Cumbria, as it was part of the original CFM transmission area.
“We didn’t expect to do it so soon, however the success of CRFM in Carlisle has enabled us to expand earlier than planned.”
Paul Johnston, programme manager for CRFM West, added: “We have got tremendous local talent, including West Cumbrian born-and-bred
broadcaster Joe Costin, who has long been a staple on the airwaves.
“Joe has also been a dedicated volunteer with CRFM since day one in April 2024, and will now present mid-mornings, Monday to Thursday, from 9am until noon, as well as his popular Golden Sunday show across the CRFM network.”
“We’re also thrilled to welcome Phil Haselhurst, a well-known West Cumbrian personality, who will present midweek drivetime, helping to get listeners home
safely.
“With a strong line-up, new studios, and a genuine commitment to the community, CRFM West will follow the same path as CRFM Carlisle, offering
a station with a true local flavour—and we hope the community will get involved too.”
