The first in a series of trails at Buttermere attracted 18 entries for the three races.
Five of them contested the seniors with Huntsman’s Rebel for Denise and Jenny Bland and Graham Little sent off the favourite.
The hounds can be seen passing the trail field and Huntsman’s Rebel had stolen a march, driving on well ahead of a group of three pursuers.
Huntsman’s Time, for Denise and Jenny Bland and Graham Little was leading the chasing pack ahead of Huntsman’s Quantum for Jim, Ann, Alan and Adrian Little and Lucky Lottie for Geoff Higgins.
As they climbed up the fell Huntsman’s Time had joined her kennel mate and the pair were racing on well.
When they dropped down the fell before the finish Huntsman’s Rebel was at the front by a length from Huntsman’s Time and the pair had a good race down into the bottoms.
However, as they jumped the final obstacle Huntsman’s Rebel lost a few strides allowing 2024 Puppy Champion Huntsman’s Time to go on and claim her second senior win of the season ahead of Huntsman’s Rebel.
Lucky Lottie finished third ahead of Huntsman’s Quantum and the final ticket went to Audacity for Lisa and Holly Whitefield.
The Pups had the biggest field of the day with eight at the slip and in-form Jenny’s Chance for Denise and Jenny Bland, Graham Little and Ella and Kyle Gallacher was sent off as the favourite.
As they went through the fell past the trail field Nellie’s Joy for Jonty, and Evie Moore, and Jack Thompson was leading the way from Huntsman’s Unite for Denise and Jenny Bland and Graham Little with Nellie’s Pride for Jonty and Evie Moore and Jack Thompson in third.
They were followed by Thorn Bee for JoJo, Martin, Molly and Teddy Burrows; Jenny’s Chance and Pied Piper for Tanya Satterthwaite.
Climbing up the fell the visibility was markedly reduced due to the heavy rainfall. As they dropped down the fell onto the finish Pied Piper was leading from Jenny’s Chance and Nellie’s Joy with a small gap to the chasing group.
After the final jump Jenny’s Chance hit the front and went on to win easily ahead of fast finishing Nellie’s Joy with Pied Piper in third.
Nellie’s Pride was fourth ahead of two littermates Thorn Bee and Huntsman’s Unite from the Thorn Dancer/Miterdale Shadow breeding.
The final race was the open maidens with another field of five taking part.
Lucky Moon for Geoff Higgins was sent off as the favourite and as they passed the trail field she was lying second to Monsoon for Christine Brownlee.
Huntsman’s Delight for Jim, Ann, Alan and Adrian Little was third, followed by Black Edition for Lisa and Holly Whitefield. In fifth was Offspring for Stuart, James and Jacob Jeynes.
As they dropped down the fell Offspring was leading from Monsoon and Lucky Moon but as they jumped the last fence Lucky Moon hit the front and finished well to claim the win.
Offspring was second ahead of Monsoon with Huntsman’s Delight in fifth and the final ticket went to Black Edition.
