People can find out about projects aimed to revitalise Workington at an event next week.
Cumberland Council is hosting the Meet the Contractor drop-in event on Thursday, September 18 at the Carnegie Theatre from 2pm to 6.30pm.
The event will give people the chance to meet the teams delivering two major schemes: the Town Centre Public Realm and Connectivity Project and the Workington Gateway Project.
It said the projects were a key part of more than £33 million in central government funding secured by Cumberland Council to boost economic development and regeneration in Workington.
People attending will be able to:
- Meet the contractors face-to-face
- Learn about construction timelines and processes
- Ask questions and share feedback
- Discuss specific needs such as business deliveries and local access
The council is particularly encouraging people from key parts of the town to attend, including residents and businesses on Murray Road, Central Way, Washington Square, Finkle Street, Warwick Place, Upton Street, Lismore Place, Ramsay Brow, Hall Park View, Washington Street/Bridge Street, and Wilson Street.
Local businesses with an interest in working with the council and contractors on future capital projects are also invited.

Representatives from Story Contracting Ltd will be available to discuss the Workington Gateway Project, while Thomas Armstrong Ltd will provide information on the Town Centre Public Realm and Connectivity Project.
