A Carlisle firm has launched a new scheme to back the city’s youth zone.

NXT Recruitment will donate 5% of recruitment fees whenever it works with another Carlisle Youth Zone patron.

The Hire with Heart initiative is in support of the charity’s new #TeenCYZ campaign, which calls on the community to Give what they can, Get involved, and Grow support.

NXT staff have also raised £305 through a sponsored fell walk and is helping CYZ connect with more businesses across the region.

Caroline Taylor Beswick, chief executive of Carlisle Youth Zone, said: “We are delighted that NXT Recruitment is stepping up its support for CYZ.

“Their generosity and creativity capture the spirit of our new #TeenCYZ campaign, and demonstrate how businesses can make a direct and real difference in the lives of young people in Carlisle.”

Simon Kean, recruitment manager at NXT and creator of the Hire with Heart initiative, said: “At NXT Recruitment, we are incredibly proud to support Carlisle Youth Zone and promote #TeenCYZ.

“NXT has been a patron since 2018, and I’ve seen first-hand the amazing work they do to help young people grow and reach their potential.

“Hire with Heart is a fantastic initiative, allowing us to work with more local businesses while investing in the future of Carlisle’s young people.

“It’s been a privilege to personally support CYZ both publicly and behind the scenes. Carlisle Youth Zone is something I feel personally passionate about and I look forward to seeing how local businesses get behind CYZ in their teen years.”

Built in 2011, today CYZ welcomes around 3,000 young people a year. It is open six nights a week offering age-appropriate youth clubs to local young people for just 50p entry.

Its work extends beyond the walls of its facilities; they are a hub of opportunity and support for young people and work closely with partners and with their community to be a voice for young people.
