Kendal Town moved into the play-off places last night after a 3-0 Northern League home win over Northallerton Town.
The Mintcakes had been hit when assistant manager Niall Cowperthwaite had to drop out late on after an injury sustained in the warm-up.
But the hosts could not have wished for a better start.
On the front foot from the off they took the lead after only five minutes through Tom Kilifin.
Northallerton proved stubborn, and at times dangerous opponents, and there was some relief when recent acquisition Noah Sawkins doubled the advantage on 33 minutes.
The third goal came on 67 minutes from Kendal veteran Jason Walker, and from then on they were fairly comfortable.
That win took them up to fifth in the Division One table with games in hand of three of the teams ahead of them.
But they can forget about the League on Saturday when they travel to Fulwood Amateurs in the FA Vase.
