Kendal Town crashed out of the FA Vase when they lost 5-1 at Fulwood Amateurs.

There were serious doubts about the game going ahead over concerns about the pitch.

The old adage ‘same for both teams’ was trotted out and In the end it was Fulwood who handled the poor conditions much better than the Mintcakes.

They had the tie sewn up at half-time with a 4-0 lead.

Kendal conceded another but did better for the final half an hour and on 73 minutes Jamie Looker reduced the arrears with their consolation goal.

It had started to go wrong in the first minute when Spencer Lucas scored the opener, and by the 14th minute it was 3-0 as James Bell grabbed a brace.

Mohammad Rezaei grabbed the fourth on 35 minutes and two minutes after the break Lucas added his second.

Kendal chairman Michael O’Neill said it was the first time in four years that he had seen the Mintcakes crumble.
