Windscale’s home game in the Wearside League last night against Barnard Castle was postponed.
It was nothing to do with the state of the Falcon Complex pitch, but because the opposition had transport problems.
They were travelling in a hired vehicle and had got as far as Penrith when they suffered a mechanical problem.
The self-hire firm advised them to return home.
The league was informed and the match will be re-scheduled for a mid-week date in October.
The Atoms were looking forward to testing themselves against an unbeaten Barnard Castle side – four wins and two draws- even though they had three players drop out with illness.
Hopefully they will be ready to resume on Saturday when Windscale have another home game against Durham Corinthians.
