Workington and Ambleside take centre stage tomorrow as far as local rugby union is concerned.
Their Counties 1 Cumbria clash at the Ellis is the only senior game on in the county.
The Women’s World Cup final between England and Canada has prompted a blank weekend of league fare.
But the Zebras and Ambleside didn’t play two weeks ago when there was a wedding which was being attended by a number of Workington players.
Ambleside agreed to the fixture switch and it should be an interesting clash between two sides seeking their first win of the season.
Ambleside, who like Workington lost their opening League game, also played last week in the new Community Plate competition and lost 32-17 against neighbours Windermere.
The Zebras had to concede their tie at Cockermouth because they were unable to field a front row through injuries and work commitments.
“Ambleside were fine with the fixture date change. They are a good bunch of lads and we get on well with them.
“We will have a full team and five replacements this week after two good training sessions when we have had good turn outs.
“It’s a game we are all looking forward to,” said team manager Kevin Harper.
Lee Jones will be the man in the middle at the Ellis.
Other games this weekend are:
- Saturday: NOWIRUL Wayne Lord Plumbing Division Two North – Kirkby Lonsdale Development v Kendal 2nds (Jonny Watson); Cumbria Border League – Carlisle Under-18s v Alnwick Colts (George Tressider); Friendly – Carlisle Crusaders v Upper Eden 2nds (Stewart Mounsey).
- Sunday: North Colts Typhoon – Wigton Under-18s v Penrith Under-18s (Ben King); Halbro Senior Colts League – Kendal Under-18s v Rochdale Under-18s (Elliot Walker).
