
The 2025/26 L&L Property Contractors Snooker League season got underway this week with a full round of opening fixtures.
The opening matches saw some strong early statements made across both divisions.
Station Road Club opened their Division Two campaign with a flawless 5-0 whitewash at home to fellow second tier side Workington Legion.
Tom Thompson got the ball rolling with a composed display, seeing off Adam Hodgson 56-33 in the opener.
Darren Lawson then produced a powerful showing to sweep aside Lewis Straughton 73-24. Station Road cueist John Teasdale extended the lead with a measured 63-30 win over Simon Tootle, before Chris Hunter kept the momentum rolling with a clinical 56-10 performance against Dan Hallam.
County Snooker champion, Kevin Kirkham wrapped up a perfect night for the Station Road outfit with a stylish 33 break in his 75-19 triumph over Jordan Ferguson.

Last year’s Division Two champions Workington Conservative Club, got off to a flying start in the all-Division One clash win a 4-1 win at Workington Golf Club.
Richard McCarthy edged a tactical opener 56-34 against Mark Brastad, before Alan Moore fought back from a tricky position to defeat Lewis Tilley 63-54 in a closely contested second frame.
David Holland added a third for an unassailable 3-0 Cons Club lead with a 57-41 win over Phil Sorfleet, and Ryan Barker made it 4-0 with a consistent 52-42 performance against Mark Cowan.
The Golf Club salvaged a point, however, in the final frame of the night with Simon Fraser defeating Brian Kendall 55-16 in a largely one sided contest.
Maryport Social held their nerve to record a tight 3-2 win over United Club B in what turned out to be a thoroughly entertaining fixture.
Maryport’s Ryan Ismay opened in style with a break of 36 during his 78-15 win over Stephen Harrison.
Andrew Sharp added the second for the Social side with a 66-18 success over Andrew Carter for 2-0. In the next, Stuart Shepherd was involved in the frame of the night, edging out Shane Tallentire on the black 61-62, in a match-up full of momentum swings to reduce the deficit to 2-1.
United B hit back again in frame four through captain Stephen Jackson, who defeated Andrew Skidmore 66-19 with some superb potting to take the game to a decider.
However, it was Maryport Social who secured the overall victory as Andrew Scott saw off Adam Sowden 45-28 in a tight fifth and final frame.
Finally, last season’s Division One champions, Workington’s United Club A opened up with a 3-2 home win over Division Two’s Rack Shack.
United A’s Dave Chapman controlled the opener to defeat Peter McAvoy 51-13 and as Clive Lister kept things tight he managed to see off the Rack Shack’s Lee Dougherty 57-17 for 2-0.
Adam Morilla stopped the rot for the Whitehaven side nevertheless as a 62-53 win over Mark Suitor pulled it back to 2-1.
United A captain Andrew Mitchelhill ensured the Workington outfit claimed the match win in the next however, with a polished 65-15 victory over Chris McKelvey.
At 3-1 to United A an unchallenged Kane Harper claimed victory in the last frame for the Rack Shack to end the match just one adrift at 3-2.
