The A595 Distington bypass has reopened.
The southbound carriageway was blocked by police today, Monday October 6.
A broken down vehicle was the cause, Cumbria police said. Its position had caused an obstruction.
The vehicle has now been recovered.
Distington old road is closed for roadworks.
Long delays are being reported through Lowca as traffic diverts round the earlier closure.
