Workington Reds will play their postponed FA Trophy tie with FC United of Manchester on Tuesday night.
The game was called off on Saturday on safety grounds after sheeting had come loose on the Popular Side of the ground.
The plan is now to make that area safe before giving the green light for the tie to take place.
Reds chairman Phil Norman said: “We had suggested Wednesday just to give us that little bit more time but FC United weren’t so keen.
“We will be working on it today so we can tell them it will be okay for Tuesday.”
The damage is not as bad as the club suffered in January through the last severe storm, and only one sheet appears to have come loose.
The frustrating thing from Reds’ point of view is that the ground is due to be demolished in January.
The last scheduled game is on January 1 and then the club will play home matches across the road at the Fibrus Community Stadium.
The draw for the next round of the FA Trophy is due to take place tomorrow so Reds and FC United will know their potential opponents when they line-up for their delayed tie.
Out of 64 scheduled ties the Workington game was the only one postponed.
Bamber Bridge had a walkover because scheduled opponents Widnes have withdrawn from the league.
