Workington Town full-back Zarrin Galea landed a top award last night.
The Maltese international was named as joint winner of League One Player of the Year.
He shared the ward with the Rochdale Hornets half-back Lewis Else who had won the award out right last year.
The presentation was part of the Rugby League’s special end-of-season awards night in Manchester.
Galea said “I feel like I am playing my best footie because it feels so much like home in Workington.
“The town is a lot like home outside of the sport as well with it being a hard working class society full of good people.”
He has re-signed for the club for two more years after considering other options.
He finished the season as Town’s top try-scorer with 10 touchdowns.
Former Whitehaven player coach Carl Forster was named League One Coach of the Year after steering North Wales Crusaders to the title.
He has since stood down from the role to join the staff of a Super League club in a full-time capacity.
His mfirst coaching appointment was with Whitehaven and after a spell in charge of Rochdale put in a fine playing stint at Barrow before taking on the coaching job at North Wales.
