The reconstruction of a bridge at Corney Fell has been completed.
Cubby Construction has completed the Buckbarrow Bridge project and it will officially reopen at 5pm today, Friday October 10.
The bridge replacement began on June 16 this year.
Cumberland Council, which commissioned the work, said the project had progressed steadily despite challenging weather conditions at the exposed site.
It said key achievements included:
- Installation of pre-cast concrete culvert units and scour protection
- Construction of masonry blockwork for cutwaters and abutments
- Completion of the reinforced concrete bridge deck with waterproofing
- Installation of parapets, drainage systems, kerbs, and road surfacing
- Final embankment rebuilding and environmental protection measures
Cumberland Council thanked to local residents, road users, and stakeholders for their patience and support throughout the work.
