
A drink-driver stopped by police in South Cumbria on Wednesday has been dealt with by the justice system in less than 24 hours.
Cumbria police’s Roads Policing Unit officers stopped a car on the A590 near Haverthwaite.
Scott Faulkner, 50, of no fixed address, but previously of Salford and Dalton-in-Furness – was discovered to be a disqualified driver following two recent drink-drive conviction – one in June and one in August.
On both occasions he was found to be more than double the legal alcohol limit.
He was driving as a provisional licence holder.
Officers suspected he was over the drink-drive limit again when they stopped him on Wednesday night. They conducted a roadside breath test which a reading of 121 – the legal limit being 35.
He was arrested. Custody tests also returned readings well in excess of double the drink-drive limit.
Faulkner was charged with drink driving, disqualified driving and driving without insurance.
He appeared before Barrow Magistrates’ Court via video-link from Kendal police station’s custody suite yesterday afternoon, October 9, where he admitted all three offences.
Taking into account his previous convictions for drink-driving, he was remanded in custody until sentencing on October 30 at Barrow Magistrates’ Court.
