Contracts for the £28 million redevelopment of Carlisle Railway Station are set to be awarded.
Cumberland Council’s executive will meet on Tuesday to consider the awarding of the construction contracts for the Carlisle Station Gateway Project.
It is recommended that they delegate authority to the council’s director of place and economy, in consultation with the chief finance officer and leader of the council, to award the necessary construction contracts for the delivery of works at Court Square (South) and George Square.
A design and build contract for the southern side of the station, known as George Square, will be awarded to Eric Wright Construction and a second contract for the northern side of the station, known as Court Square, will be awarded Story Contracting.
A report to councillors said: “Carlisle Station Gateway project is a £28 million pivotal regeneration proposal to revitalise Carlisle Railway Station and surrounding area with funding from Borderlands, Network Rail and Cumberland Council. Initial enabling works are now complete and planning consent has been obtained.”
Work is expected to be complete by January 2027.
