
L&L Property Contractors Snooker League has provided another set of intriguing fixtures.
The league’s cross-divisional format featured a fine come back by the lower ranked side.
Division Two’s Workington Golf Club defeated Division One’s Workington Veterans Club, 3-2 after being 2-0 down.
Vets’ Mark Tunstall opened for the away side with a confident 60–21 win against Bryan Walker and with a dominant display from Kevin Basnett, aided with a break of 58, the Vets captain recorded a 98–4 demolition of Phil Sorfleet for 2-0.
The Golf Club’s comeback was sparked in frame three however, as Lewis Tilley notched a 62–21 win over Mark Tatton to pull one back.
Frame four also went in favour of the Golf Club as Simon Frazer produced some trademark potting to record a 67–31 success and take the match to a decider.
In the last frame of the fixture Mark Carruthers improved as the game went on and in accruing the points he needed, the Golf Club cueist eventually completed the match victory with a 64-36 defeat of Paul Johnston.
One of the Division One contenders, Workington Conservative Club, were made to work hard for a 3–2 away win over Division Two’s Workington Legion in the next fixture.

Alan Moore put the Cons ahead early with a confident 66–31 victory over Adam Hodgson, but the Legion hit back with Dan Hallam’s 52–36 triumph over Brian Kendall.
David Holland restored the Cons’ lead with a 64–16 win against Simon Tootle, and it was Ryan Barker who made it 3–1 for the visitors after beating Legion’s Jordan Ferguson 63–27.
Legions’ Ian Blisset took the final frame of the match, pulling the score to a very respectable 3-2.
Defending Division One champions, Workington’s United Club A, made it two wins from two with a strong 4–1 away triumph over Division Two clubmates United B.
Stephen Harrison controlled the opener to edge United A’s Dave Chapman 67–47, but it was Tony Hindmoor who levelled the match with a 45–22 win over Adam Sowden for 1-1.
Mark Suitor took the third with a 54–44 win over United B captain Stephen Jackson, and the A side pushed further ahead as Andrew Mitchelhill produced a captain’s performance to defeat David Petrie 66–23 for 3-1.
In the fifth and final frame of the match Peter O’Hagan showed his class with a clinical 83–29 victory over Andrew Carter to cap off a fine United A performance.
Finally, Station Road, one of the promotion favourites in Division Two, made it back-to-back wins with a solid 4–1 home victory over fellow second-tier side Maryport Social.
Tom Thompson edged a tight opener with a 57–46 black ball triumph over Andrew Sharp, before Darren Lawson produced a controlled 60–48 win over Stuart Shepherd.
Maryport responded through Ryan Ismay, who struck form to beat John Teasdale, 58–16 and reduce the deficit to 2-1.
Nevertheless, Chris Hunter restored the two-frame cushion with a 55–46 win over Andrew Skidmore for an unassailable 3-1 Station Road lead.
County champion Kevin Kirkham galvanised a fine home performance with a hard fought 62–40 victory over Andrew Scott in the last, to top off another statement win.
