The Coastguard was called out to investigate after a 999 call reported concerns for a vessel off the the West Cumbrian coast.
Whitehaven and Maryport Coastguard rescue teams were called to Dubmill Point, near Mawbray, yesterday afternoon, Wednesday October 15.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: “The first informant had called 999 and on speaking with our Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre Belfast Coastguard, they reported what they believed to be a vessel which hadn’t moved for some time.
“We arrived and conducted a search of the Allonby Bay and Scars to the north.
“Several static channel buoys were identified in the flat calm waters, along with a variety of wildlife, but thankfully no persons in need of assistance.
“This was categorised as a false alarm with good intent, and as always we thank our first informant for their vigilance and reporting their concerns.”
