West Cumbrian hotel raises £3,400 for hospice at home

A West Cumbrian hotel has raised £3,400 for the area’s hospice at home charity.

The Melbreak Hotel, near Workington, took part in Hospice at Home West Cumbria’s annual Great Hospice Cake Off campaign.

The event, which invited local businesses, community groups and supporters to host cake themed fundraisers, saw the hotel, on Winscales Road, pull out all the stops — with customers enjoying a delicious day of sweet treats and community spirit.

The total raised on the day was matched by the hotel.

Jessica Woolaghan, partnerships and fundraising co-ordinator at Hospice at Home West Cumbria, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the amazing team at the Melbreak Hotel and to every customer who came along and supported the day.

“We’re especially grateful to the Melbreak for matching the total raised — it’s thanks to gestures like this that ensures we can continue providing vital care and support across our community.”

The funds raised will go directly towards providing adult hospice at home services in West Cumbria and support for patients with life limiting illnesses, as well as their families and those close to them.
