Penrith are on a recovery mission tomorrow after their poorest display of the season.
A crushing 69-14 defeat at Ilkley, which followed a 59-36 home loss to Heath has badly spoilesd what had been a good start to the Regional 1 North East season.
It has to be said that those are the only two unbeaten sides in the league and Penrith have only slipped to fifth.
But it has made a mess of their scoring differential and at -40 they are the only side in the top half not in plus mode.
That could change tomorrow with a home game against York who have lost all five games so far, including a 39-7 home defeat last week to Middlesbrough.
Kendal, who have already beaten York, collected their second win last week when they beat Sandal 39-22 at Mint Bridge.
They had trailed 22-20 after 56 minutes but came back well to win the game in the last quarter.
Ben Dixon (2), Ben O’Hallaran, Ollie Rose and Aaron Stephens scored the tries. Evan Moir converted four and kick two penalties.
They travel to Middlesbrough tomorrow with their hosts two points behind them in the table – 9th entertaining 8th.
In Regional 2 North the match of the day will be at Davidson Park where Keswick entertain West Hartlepool.
Keswick now lie third in the table, just a point behind West Hartlepool with a game in hand.
It’s possible Keswick coach Garry Holmes might have had his card marked by Andy Brown, the Aspatria coach after the Black Reds were beaten 41-24 at Wests last week.
Keswick kept-up their momentum with a 30-26 win at Consett.
In charge at Davidson Park will be Martin Denvir.
Aspatria, meanwhile, will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they entertain Durham City.
The Black Reds have won three out of five but have only one win so far in their five outings.
Indeed the Durham side lost 35-25 at home to Upper Eden last week, a result which put the Pennine Park side a point above their opponents, and just four behind Aspatria.
Martin Maughan is the man in the middle at Bower Park.
Tomorrow Upper Eden will be favourites to follow-up with another win when they host Guisborough.
Match referee for this one is Dan Shovelton.
Wigton remain the only side without a win in the League, and they face the toughest of tests tomorrow at home to leaders Northern who have 24 points on the board out of a possible 25.
The Greens always knew it was going to be tough after promotion, especially with a young side, but the experience gained will be invaluable.
They have Jonny Watson as their referee.
Two games catch the eye in Counties 1 Cumbria – both derby clashes.
The Lakes contests brings Windermere and Ambleside together.
Referee Ben Hurst is from Northumberland who happens to be in the area for the week-end and asked for a game.
The other derby is in west Cumbria where St Benedict’s entertain Whitehaven and Paddy Loughran will officiate.
The other games are: Carlisle v Cockermouth (Cieran Trainor); Keswick 2nds v Millom (Stephen Elliott); Hawcoat Park v Workington (Alistair Jones); Creighton v Kirkby Lonsdale (Craig Hine) and Egremont v Penrith 2nds (Danny Airey).
