The third week of the L&L Property Contractors Snooker League brought more top match-ups.
The cross-divisional format saw Division One and Division Two teams lock horns once again.
Division Two’s Station Road Club produced the performance of the round, securing a 4-1 away win against Division One’s Workington Conservative Club.
John Teasdale set the tone with some fluent scoring in the first to beat Cons’ Richard McCarthy 74-49 for a 1-0 lead.
Station Road’s Tom Thompson was next to impress, surviving a spirited display from Alan Moore to edge a high-quality frame 64-44.
In the third frame, Julian Plaza used his years of experience to pull one back for the Cons with a 46-8 masterclass against Darren Lawson.
In frame four Chris Hunter was in no mood to let the Station Road lead slip, and with a tidy 58-23 win against David Holland the Division Two side moved 3-1 ahead.
The final frame of the match saw Kevin Kirkham’s polished break-building lead to a contribution of 39, which in turn helped him comfortably dispatch Ryan Barker 76–14 for a stunning match victory for the tier two side.

Whitehaven’s Rack Shack got their first win of the season with a 3-2 home victory over fellow Division Two side Workington Golf Club.
In a sensational start to the evening, Neil Dougherty delivered a statement performance for the hosts with a break of 46 as he swept aside Mark Brastad in a dominant 96–10 victory to take the opener.
The Golf Club responded early in frame two with Bryan Walker putting up a strong defensive showing, but a steely Adam Morilla shaded it 72-59 to double the Rack Shack’s lead. With trademark flair Phil Sorfleet pulled one back for the Golf Club in frame three with a 58-32 win over Peter McAvoy to make it 2-1.
As the Golf Club now had a sniff of a comeback it was Phil Denver’s job to ensure the Rack Shack side took full advantage of their early lead.
Sure enough the Whitehaven cueist rose to the challenge and with a 53-18 win over Lewis Tilley an unassailable 3-1 lead was gained.
In the final frame of the match the Golf Club’s Simon Fraser rounded off the night with an assured 61-13 success over Kane Harper to claw the score back to 3-2.
Workington’s United Club A extended their unbeaten start to the campaign with a commanding 4-1 home win over Division Two’s Workington Legion.
The away side had landed the first blow, with Adam Hodgson maintaining composure to take the opener 60-46 against Tony Hindmoor. However, United A quickly levelled as Clive Lister outclassed Jordan Ferguson with a dominant 67-14 win.
United A captain Andrew Mitchelhill then put the hosts ahead, controlling proceedings in a 63–15 win over Lewis Straughton for 2-1.
Adding to the tally in frame four, Dave Chapman eased past Simon Tootle 56-19 to widen the United A lead to 3-1.
The final frame belonged to Peter O’Hagan, who stole the show with a classy season’s best break of 75 en route to a clinical 115-16 demolition of Dan Hallam, capping off a superb 4–1 win for the Division One outfit.

Finally, Workington Veterans Club bounced back from last week’s disappointment in style, beating United Club B 4-1 in the Division One versus Division Two showdown.
Mark Tunstall got the home side off to a flyer with a fine 80-36 win over Andrew Carter but it was Stephen Harrison who followed with a patient and gritty display to outpoint Paul Johnston 66-32 for match parity at 1-1.
Frame three saw Mark Tatton dominate proceedings against Shane Tallentire, finishing 85-20 to put the Vets ahead again.
Vets A captain Kevin Basnett gave little away in frame four with a commanding 68-15 win over Stephen Jackson, and the Division One side ensured they maximised their winning margin with a 67-26 victory in the last to end the match at 4-1.
