Potential sixth form pupils and their families who want to find out what Queen Elizabeth Grammar School can offer them are invited to an open evening next month.

The Penrith school has a large and thriving sixth form, with an excellent record of academic success as well as outstanding achievements in sports, the arts and enterprise.

The sixth form provides not just a wide range of academic courses but many social, cultural and sporting activities.

There are also opportunities for pupils to contribute to the school and wider community with various voluntary activities and leadership roles.

The school said: “Pastoral support is something we pride ourselves on and we are very lucky to have our own dedicated pastoral support officer who works within the sixth form in addition to our experienced tutor teams who work closely alongside the head and deputy head of sixth form.

“Our students go on to study at top universities, take up higher level apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships with a range of prestigious employers such as Hanson, Bentley and BAE.

“Whatever your passions and future aspirations, we are here to help you achieve your goals.”

The sixth form open evening will be held on Tuesday November 4 from 5pm to 7.30pm and booking not required.

Applications for the sixth form open on December 11 and will close on January 9 2026.

Founded in 1564 by Royal Charter, QEGs has been helping young people to secure outstanding academic results and providing a well-rounded experience for over 450 years.

The school encourages students to take responsibility for their learning from the moment they join, ensuring they are well prepared for the challenges they face on their journey at QEGS.

It is a growing school with 1,040 students currently on roll, but said it remained sufficiently small to recognise individual talents and ensure everyone was challenged and supported to reach their goals.

To find out more about the opportunities at QEGs sixth form, attend the open evening on Tuesday, November 4 from 5pm to 7.30pm or visit the website here
