Cockfrock – Cockermouth’s pop-up sale of pre-loved women’s clothing and accessories – is back with a pre-Christmas event.
An annual two-day sale of pre-loved, good quality ladies fashion usually takes place at the town’s Kirkgate Centre each spring.
But with Christmas not far away, organisers have again decided to stage an autumn event next month to allow people to grab a bargain in time for the festive season.
The event again offers opportunities for local people to find a buyer for items they no longer wear.
Kirkgate chief executive Emma Heys said: “The response has been tremendous once again and all of the sales slots have now been taken.
“The good news for buyers, however, is that the full complement of up to 2,000 pre-loved, good quality ladies’ garments will be on sale at knock-down prices.”
Anyone can sell their clothes and all sellers receive 70 per cent of the sale price with the remaining 30 per cent going towards fund-raising for the Kirkgate Centre.
The autumn event takes place on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16. Doors open from 10.30am to 6pm on Saturday and on Sunday from 10am until 1pm.
Entry to each session is free and, on Sunday, a sale will take place that means many articles will be even more of a bargain than usual.
Emma added: “We’re delighted to once again play host to a special autumn staging of Cockfrock. It has become a big part of the town’s events calendar and many people look forward to it.
“Re-selling pre-loved clothes makes such a lot of sense, both in environmental and financial terms and we’re looking forward to another bumper fun weekend for the town.
“We’ve got knockout frocks at a knockdown prices plus shoes, handbags and jewellery. Whether it’s glitz and glamour or more practical outfits you’re after, there is always a wide range of styles and sizes on offer.”
