Emergency services were called to a serious collision on the A66 near Stainton yesterday.
Cumbria police said the incident happened on the westbound carriageway yesterday, Saturday November 1, in the evening.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service were at the scene.
Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
