Barrow eased into the second round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win at Spennymoor to deny their hosts of a piece of history.
The National North side were looking to make the second round for the first time in their history.
It took until the 40th minute for the Bluebirds to get their noses in front from Elliot Newby, cleverly beating home keeper Bobby Jones after being put through by Charlie McCann.
Substitute Kane Hemmings bagged the second on 72 minutes to give Barrow the breathing space they were able to finish the game with.
Hemmings had a simple finish into an empty net after a Ben Whitfield cross had eluded the home defence.
Not that Spennymoor were short of chances as Barrow goalkeeper Wyll Stanway made an excellent one-handed save to keep-out a goal-bound effort from Glen Taylor.
There was also an opportunity for full-back Olly Dyson after a powerful run into the Barrow area but was unfortunate to slip as he shot and it flew wide.
Ben Whitfield had a good chance for Barrow but shot well over the bar while Spennymoor went close through efforts from Taylor and Matt Dolan.
But just seven minutes after replacing Connor Mahoney, Hemmings tapped home Whitfield’s cross into an empty net for Barrow’s second.
