
A man has been arrested after a car was spotted being driven in South Cumbria without front tyres.
Kendal police officers were helping a driver whose car had broken down on the A591 near Sizergh this morning, Sunday November 2.
South Lakes police said: “At around 8.15am they were passed by a white vehicle.
“They immediately followed and the driver was arrested a short distance away.
“The vehicle was found to have been driven with no front tyres and shredded rear tyres.
“The driver undertook roadside alcohol and drug tests and failed both resulting in further arrest.”
He was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of controlled drugs.
South Lakes police added: “The driver remains in police custody at Kendal and will be processed later in the day.
“The vehicle has been recovered and the A591 is fully open. Thank you to members of the public who called on 999 to also raise concern about this vehicle.”
