Darren Lawson had confident win for Station Road.

Division One’s Station Road Club delivered a statement away performance this week in the L&L Property Contractors Snooker League.

They defeated fellow townies and closest rivals United Club A 4-1.

The visitors got off to a strong start as Tom Thompson outscored Dave Chapman 73-41 in a brilliant opener.

Darren Lawson followed with a confident 70-26 win over Clive Lister for a Station Road 2-0 lead, before John Teasdale edged past Mark Suitor 65-60 in a closely fought third frame for an unassailable 3-0 advantage.

United A hit back in frame four as Andrew Mitchelhill produced a captain’s performance with a 76-1 win over Stephen Lowery making a 36 break in the process. Station Road galvanised the victory in the final frame as Chris Hunter got the better of Peter O’Hagan 54-45 to complete a 4-1 triumph.

The victory sees Station Road top Division One on 17 points while United A sit second on 12 points.

In a battle of two Division Two sides, Whitehaven’s Rack Shack pulled off a narrow 3-2 home win over Workington’s United Club B.

Adam Morilla started strongly with a 57-47 victory over United B’s Stephen Harrison, before Lee Dougherty and Chris McKelvey each claimed solid wins over Andrew Carter, 62–30 and Stephen Jackson, 55-44 respectively to give the hosts a 3-0 lead.

However, United B weren’t done yet. Adam Sowden responded with a composed 61-42 win over Kane Harper, and the match concluded with United B’s Richard Kirkham defeating Andrew Carruthers 66-21 to pull two frames back and end the contest 3-2.

Ryan Barker gave an assured performance to win it for Cons Club.

The Rack Shack top Division Two on eight points while the United Club B are three places below in fourth on six points.

Division One’s Workington Veterans Club edged Division Two’s Workington Legion with a hard fought 3-2 away win.

Mark Tatton kicked off with a solid 55-12 win over Ian Bisset, followed by Mark Tunstall battling to a 44-25 result against Simon Tootle to put Vets A 2-0 up.

Adam Hodgson hit back in the third for the Legion with a 51-27 victory but it was Paul Smith who added a crucial third point for the visitors with a clinical 65-13 triumph over Jordan Ferguson. In the last the Legion’s Dan Hallam softened the blow with a 57-22 win over Paul Johnston to make it 3-2 overall.

The Vets Club are bottom of Division One on nine points, with a game in hand, and the Legion sit at the foot of Division Two on five points.

Finally, Workington Conservative Club battled back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 to overcome a spirited Maryport Social in the Division One versus Division Two fixture.

Mark Tatton got Vets away to a good start.

Maryport struck first with Sal Cakmak edging Julian Plaza 55-46, but it was Richard McCarthy who levelled it for the Cons Club with a 54-17 win over Lee Ismay.

Former singles winner Ryan Ismay pushed Maryport ahead once more in frame three as he defeated former county champion, Alan Moore 61-30 to put his side 2-1 up.

Cons’ Dave Holland produced a break of 38 in frame four which was enough for him to beat Andrew Sharp 71-37 and ensure the match went to a decider.

In the final frame Ryan Barker delivered an assured performance as he coolly despatched Stuart Shepherd 76-33 to take the match for the Cons at 3-2.

Workington Cons Club are third in Division One and Maryport sit second in Division Two on six points due to a favourable frame difference.
