Six Cumbrian artists have been chosen to exhibit at this year’s Manchester Art Fair.
They have been chosen following a rigorous selection process after hundreds of people applied for the prestigious event, which takes place from November 21 to November 23.
The Cumbrian artists will join over 165 UK and international individual artists, galleries, and artist-led spaces at the fair, one of the largest and most significant in the UK, each showing the works of some of the world’s most exciting up-and-coming and celebrated artists.
Annie Luke Turner, an abstract painter based in the Lake District, recently won the Women in Art Prize in London and has exhibited across the North and Scotland.
Her solo exhibition at The Hampstead School of Art is set to open next year.
She said: “It’s a real honour to have been selected to exhibit at Manchester Art Fair, one of the UK’s largest and most respected art fairs.
“It’s an incredible platform for emerging artists. I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to show my latest work, which has always evolved from a feeling of place after walks, drives and journeys, inspired by light, shapes, colours and a sense for what may have happened there before.”
Janette Phillips, who works from her studio overlooking Morecambe Bay, is a member of the Lake Artists Society and has exhibited in galleries and creative spaces across the UK and received awards for her exhibited work.
She said: “I’m delighted to be exhibiting at Manchester Art Fair for the third time this November. As a Lancashire girl it always feels good to come back to my roots and share my latest work alongside such a wealth of creative talent.”

Managing director of Manchester Art Fair, Sophie Helm said: “The quality and number of applications received for this year’s fair was extremely high, making for an exceptionally difficult selection process.
“To see six artists chosen from across Cumbria is a testament to the incredible breadth and quality of creative talent in the county.”
The North’s largest and most significant art fair, Manchester Art Fair has welcomed over 122,000 visitors since its inception in 2008, amassing over £7.8m in art sales.
