A Carlisle band has signed a deal with an American record label.
Novablood have signed with the highly respected independent label Mint400, based in New Jersey, after label boss and founder Neil Sabatino heard a demo of the band’s most recent recordings.
Neil said: “Mint 400 Records has always been about finding diamonds in the rough and when we came across Novablood, even though they are from a continent away from us, we knew we’d love to work with them” Neil said.
“They bring aspects of Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, The Dare and others, all bands we listen to and knew they’d fit in well with our stable of post punk artists.
“The bands work ethic and style is the perfect fit for this label. We welcome them to the family.”
Mint400 have been releasing records from mainly American artists since 2007 with over 12 million online streams since 2017. Artists who have released work with the label include Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance and members of the legendary New York indie band Nada Surf.
Novablood have recently become a four-piece band after singer/songwriter Mark Baker, guitarist Paul Newton and Paolo Di Liberto on tech were joined by drummer Josh Thomas who has just finished an 11-year stint with the Dub Pistols.
Mark said: “When Mint400 got back to us with such enthusiasm, we were absolutely floored.
“We were aware they’d had a huge back catalogue of releases and knew they weren’t accepting unsolicited demos, so it was a shot in the dark.”
The band were previously signed to the London label Old World-New World who released their album Destroy The Magic last year, which went into the iTunes electronic charts top 10 in its first week of release followed by an extensive UK tour.
They are set to release their first single for the US label in January.
Novablood will be making a very rare live appearance in their home city on Saturday, December 13, when they appear with Manchester band Sea Fever at Carlisle’s Brickyard.
