The A590 in South Cumbria is currently closed after a three-vehicle collision.
National Highways said the road was closed in both directions between Elliscales roundabout and Park Road roundabout.
The incident followed flooding in the area, National Highways added.
Emergency services are currently at the scene, and officers from highways have been requested to help with the flooding.
Drivers should expect delays and have been asked to avoid the area.
