Students looking for their next move after year 11 are invited to find out what is on offer at Penrith’s Ullswater Community College.

The vibrant, ambitious and caring school in the heart of Penrith, is holding a sixth form open evening on Thursday November 27 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Students and their parents can meet its dedicated teachers, tutors, course leaders, the sixth form team and pupils at the event.

It will also feature a talk from the head of sixth form at 4.30pm and 5.30pm.

The students of Ullswater Community College excel on a daily basis, whether that be their academic success or the enrichment opportunities they are afforded.

From recently shining in the UK Maths Trust competition, its gymnasts coming seventh in the British Nationals or becoming county champions – its students are breaking records with their running, composing music, volunteering.

Others are travelling the world like its Operation Wallacea expedition to Madagascar – not to mention nearly 200 Duke of Edinburgh participants and the newly formed Cadet Force, one of only 500 in the UK.

Ullswater Community College says there really is something for everyone.

It said: “Over recent years we’ve developed a truly aspirational culture that encourages all of our students to challenge themselves, naturally in the academic curriculum but also in every other sphere of a truly extensive extracurricular programme.

“Life happens, the ups and the downs, and our transition and pastoral support is second to none – we’re proud to be a vital part of the community, shaping and supporting the next generation to achieve their full potential.

“We understand that parents want a safe and happy environment where your children can flourish. We have high standards and expectations for our students and in return we offer great teaching and positive outcomes.

“With the development of our new premises in the very near future, we will soon have the buildings to match our high expectations and aspirations.

“It’s an exciting time to join Ullswater Community College.

“Ullswater Community College is a happy school, we live by our values; Ambitious, caring, equal and are well on our way to fulfilling our ambition of being ‘best in county’ in all that we do.”

The application deadline is Friday, January 30.
