
Division One pace-setters Station Road Club have extended their 100% start to the L&L Property Contractors Snooker League season.
In the latest round of matches they had a commanding 4-1 home win over Division Two’s United Club B.
In the all-Workington fixture, Tom Thompson got the ball rolling in style with some steady potting in a one-sided 68–24 win over Stephen Harrison.
Darren Lawson continued the momentum with a flawless 55-4 win against Richard Kirkham, before John Teasdale dug deep to see off Adam Sowden 54-35 for a 3-0 Station Road Club lead.
United B pulled one back through captain Stephen Jackson, who showed good form in a 66-46 victory over Chris Hunter, however Station Road’s Kevin Kirkham sealed the win in the final frame with a break of 33 on the way to a 55-16 success against Shane Tallentire.
Station Road remain top of Division One on 21 points with United B fourth in Division Two on nine points.
Workington Conservative Club delivered a dominant display to secure a 4-1 home win over Whitehaven’s Rack Shack in a Division One versus Division Two encounter.
Richard McCarthy gave the hosts a confident start with a composed 56-25 win over Lee Dougherty and team mate Julian Plaza added another with a hard-fought 47–34 victory against Kane Harper for 2-0.
Alan Moore kept the run going with a clinical 74-21 win against Neil Dougherty and it was Ryan Barker who saw off Peter McAvoy 74-38 in an entertaining fourth frame.
Rack Shack avoided the whitewash thanks to Phil Denvir, who found form in the final frame to beat Brian Kendall 67-25 and salvage a point.
The result keeps Cons in the hunt, tied second in Division One on 18 points and the Rack Shack are also tied at the top on 12 points, this time in Division Two.
In the weeks’ third fixture Workington’s United Club A came through a close battle with Workington Veterans Club to earn a 3-2 home win in the all-Division One clash.

The visitors struck first as Mark Tunstall defeated Dave Chapman 65-38 despite a spirited performance from the United A man.
Clive Lister responded emphatically in a 56-21 win over Vets’ Mark Tatton for 1-1, and the home side went further in front as they took the third with a Mark Suitor 55-8 win.
Vets A showed their fighting qualities in frame four with Paul Johnston holding off Tony Hindmoor 62-44 to take the game to a decider.
The fifth served up a fitting decider as United A captain Andrew Mitchelhill produced his best performance of the season so far in a high scoring 74-66 black ball victory over five-time county singles champion Kevin Basnett to secure the match 3-2.
The result keeps United A second in the Division One standings, tied on 18 points with Workington Cons. Workington Veterans Club prop up the table on 13 points.
Finally, Maryport Social recorded their third win of the season with a tense 3-2 home victory over fellow Division Two side Workington Golf Club.
Sal Cakmak got the hosts off to a strong start, holding off Mark Brasted 54-46 in the opener.
Ryan Ismay impressed once again with a fluent 62-39 second frame win over Lewis Tilley to make it 2-0 to Maryport.
The Golf Club pulled one back in frame three as Bryan Walker produced a fine 76-49 win over Stuart Shepherd but it was Maryport’s Andrew Skidmore who delivered the standout performance in frame four, storming to an 81-34 win over Mark Cowan to secure the match victory.
The Golf Club made the scoreline more respectable in the last, with Simon Fraser narrowly beating Andrew Scott 45-32 to end the match just one adrift at 3-2.
The result moves Maryport into a tie at the top of Division Two on 12 points. Workington Golf Club sit third in the same division on 10 points.
