
Cumbria County club have landed a star name for the 2026 season in recently retired professional Chris Wright.
The 40-year-old Chipping Norton-born Wright will be available in all three formats of the game, which is an added bonus for Cumbria..
Wright announced his retirement from first-class cricket last September after over 20 years in the professional game.
He had made his first class debut in 2004 and altogether he has played 211 first class matches scoring 4096 runs and taking 602 wickets.
In his 141 List A matches he has taken a further 149 wickets and scored 352 runs. He has also played 62 T20 matches and his all format career totals are: 414 matches, 4478 runs and 804 wickets principally for Essex, Warwickshire and Leicestershire.
He has also played first class cricket for the England Lions, Middlesex, the MCC, Cambridge UCCE and Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club.
He made his debut for Cumbria in the NCCA Trophy in 2023 making a significant contribution to the club reaching the Final that year, and has also played Twenty20 for the County. He is yet to play in the Three-Day Championship.
