
Road closures will be in place to allow for improvement work in Carlisle.
Cumberland Council will carry out footway and drainage work on Blackwell Road on Monday November 24 for eight days, subject to weather and site conditions.
The council said the works are essential to maintain the safety and quality of the local highway network.
Three-way traffic lights will be in place and phased road closures will also take place on adjacent roads.
A signed diversion route will also be in place throughout the work.
The schedule of works is as follows:
- Phase 1: Monday November 24 to Wednesday November 26 – Road closure on Jubilee Road from 8am to 4pm with three-way lights on Blackwell Road and Ridley Road.
- Phase 2: Thursday November 27 to Wednesday December 3 – Road closure on Ridley Road from 8am to 4pm with three-way lights on Blackwell Road and Jubilee Road. A footway diversion will also be in operation during this phase.
During phase 2 , the Stagecoach 67 bus route will be affected when Ridley Road is closed, and the alternative bus stop will be Millholme Avenue.
People are asked to check Stagecoach online for the latest timetable information.
Access for emergency services, pedestrians, and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Waste collections will also continue as normal.
