Cumbria’s three Northern League sides collected a win, a draw and a defeat in their latest Northern League fixtures.
Carlisle City were the winners, coming from behind for a deserved 2-1 success at Northallerton.
Penrith were 3-1 down at Birtley but scored five times in the last 30 minutes with only two of them counting in a 3-3 draw.
Kendal Town suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Marske which knocked them down from third to fourth, but still very much in the promotion race.
Carlisle City had dominated the game from the start at Northallerton but fell a goal behind on 34 minutes when Alistair Banks scored against the run of play.
Northallerton had a player sent off but Carlisle had been dominating in any case and they finally drew level on 79 minutes through top scorer Callum Birdsall.
Two minutes later they got the winner when manager Dan Kirkup grabbed the winner after coming on as a sub and pushing himself forward.
Kirkup spoke to us after the match. Hear what he thought below:
Penrith had taken an early lead on four minutes at Birtley through Luke Brown but a 20th minute penalty by Joe Hailes and a 39th minute strike by Sam Hedley meant the home side went in at half-time 2-1 ahead.
Five minutes into the second held Nick Marley made it 3-1 but that sparked a fine Penrith recovery.
Despite having three goals disallowed for offside they got level through DJ Taylor and, in the second minute of stoppage time, Matty Williamson.
Hear what Jim Nichols had to say below:
Kendal Town had no complaints about losing at home to Marske who took their chances while, for once, the Mintcakes lacked bite at the sharp end.
They had fallen behind on 17 minutes when Jey Draper put the visitors ahead, but the evergreen Jason Walker did put them level on the stroke of half-time.
Marske clinched the points with a 69th minute strike by Connor Grant.
