One of the Lake District’s most visited churches will be bathed in candlelight next week as St Mary’s Hospice brings its Light Up a Life remembrance service to Grasmere for the first time.
St Mary’s Hospice is inviting the community to join it at St Oswald’s Church on Wednesday December 3 at 6pm.
Lynsey Lawson, compassionate communities lead at St Mary’s, said: “St Mary’s are proud to have served our South Lakes community for over 36 years.
“Two out of every 10 people we support come from the South Lakes and we are delighted to bring our much-loved Light up a Life service to Grasmere.
“Our services offer a safe space to come together with your family and friends in order to have an opportunity to reflect and celebrate the life of someone special to you.”
Christmas can be a difficult time, especially those navigating a bereavement. St Mary’s offers vital bereavement services, available to anyone in our community, regardless of whether their loved one was cared for by the hospice.
Lynsey added: “We understand loss affects everyone differently so it’s vital we bespoke our services to meet the needs of our community. St Mary’s offer one-to-one support, group sessions, counselling, and tailored guidance to help individuals and families navigate grief.”
Other Light Up a Life services will be held at:
- Barrow – St Paul’s Church, Hawcoat Lane, Thursday December 4, 6pm
- Ulverston – St Mary’s Parish Church, Saturday December 6, 3.30pm
- Cartmel Priory, Sunday December 7, 3.30pm
