
A Penrith man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.
Samuel Hughes, 46, of Brentfield Way, Penrith, was charged on November 29, following an incident at an address in the town in the early hours of Thursday November 27.
He was also charged with single counts of of grievous bodily harm, possession of a bladed article and aggravated burglary.
He remains in police custody having been refused bail prior to his appearing before Carlisle Magistrates’ Court today, Monday December 1.
Police were called at 4.16am on Thursday to a report that two people inside an address in the town had suffered injuries after being assaulted by a man with a knife.
Officers attended and arrested a man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. However, he was taken to hospital having also suffered injuries. He was transferred from hospital to police custody on Friday November 28, in the evening.
The two occupants of the address who suffered injuries in the incident were treated at hospital but were released the same day on Thursday November 27.
