Close encounter for JJ’s B and Red House A

JJ’s B made progress after tight cup tie.

JJ’s B edged a close encounter in the Universal Tanker Solutions Handicap Knockout Cup against Red House A.

With matches played over two weeks the match was delicately poised at 7-7 from the first leg in a race to 14 frames.

Red House’s Aaron Humphries stepped up to level the match again at 9-9 before JJ’s Ian Frizzle edged them back in front to give his team momentum.

Martyn Fisher clinched his second frame of the night and a 14-11 win to JJ’s B.

JJ’s A also booked their place in the quarter finals thanks to a 14-5 win against Moss Bay A.

A strong singles showing from JJ’s stopped their opponents from getting a foothold in the match as

Dean Adams and Shaun Ayre’s winning frames ensured the wins.

JJ’s C looked favourites to win when they went 12-10 up until Station Road A dug deep.

Mike Walker put his team back in the contest and set-up Steven Lowery to slot home a superb black and give Station Road A the 14-12 win.

Harrington Legion B went into their second leg all square at 7-7 against Grapes A.

Legion B’s Will Kinsella kicked-off a five-frame winning streak which the Grapes couldn’t recover from and it finished 14-8.

Station Road C edged a close encounter over Cons Club B.

Station Road finally took a commanding lead in the doubles which set up Steve Gibbon to deliver the winning frame.

Moss Bay B are enjoying their first Cup run as Craig Dolan capped off an impressive14-12 win over Bees Knees.

The final game saw Waverley’s Alan Stephenson clinch the winning frame in a 14-6 win over Union Jack Club A.

In the Plate Knockout Station Road B booked their place in the quarter finals with a 14-12 win over Pack Horse B.

With the match tied at 12 all it was Lee Farragher and David Haigh’s winning frames that gave Station Road the victory.

Seaton Royal Oak overcame a first leg deficit to defeat Grapes A. Jenson Morris set the tone for the evening as his team raced ahead for a 14-11 win.

Cons Club A enjoyed a comfortable 14-8 victory over the Roundabout and JJ’s E’s five frame winning streak helped overcome Railway in a 14-11 victory.

Union Jack B couldn’t get out of the starting blocks as the Miners were on top form in the second leg.

Paul Kelly topped off a six frame winning streak and the 14-8 win.

Performance of the round went to Pack Horse A who earned a 14-2 victory over Red House B.
