Maryport RL celebrate highly-rated Under-15s

The championship winning Maryport Under 15s celebrated their success at a club presentation night

 Maryport RL has celebrated a fine season by their highly-rated Under-15s side.

The highlight was the team lifting the North West Counties Division Three league and Shield Cup double.

It was a fantastic effort all round from everyone involved including the players, coaches and parents.

Coach John Fidler said: “There has to be a special mention for Olly Cartwright who has been selected for a scholarship with Leigh Leopards.

“This is a fantastic achievement and goes to show that hard work pays off. Everyone at the club is extremely proud of his achievements.”

Olly picked up two awards at the club presentation – Player of the Year and Top Try scorer.

  • Coaches’ player – Lucas Smiles
  • Players’ player – Loghan Williams
  • Referee’s player – Mitch Ross
  • Most dedicated – Kai Marnock
  • Most improved – Owen Hadley
  • Unsung hero – Mason McNichol
  • Opposition coaches’ player of the year – Lucas Smiles
  • Man of steel – Lucas Howe
  • Try of the year – Joshua Clark and Matt Sowerby
  • Top Tackler – Thomas Dickinson
  • Captain’s player of the year – Theo Winstanley and Kai Marnock
  • Sponsor’s award – Harrison Fidler
  • Performance of year – Mitch Ross
