It is 10 years on Friday that Storm Desmond battered Cumbria and caused widespread devastation.
In just 48 hours, 1.15 trillion litres of rain fell in the county.
Nearly 800 bridges and 300km of roads were significantly damaged or destroyed and it affected thousands of people and businesses.
The community effort to restore the county to normality was immense, with local communities, residents, businesses, volunteers, organisations, the emergency services and councils pulling together to help.
The British Red Cross Emergency Response in Cumbria Team will be putting up a gazebo under the Birdcage on Finkle Street in Kendal from 9am to 12.30pm on Saturday, December 6, to provide a safe space for people who wish to reflect on Storm Desmond 10 years on.
The team said: “It will be an opportunity to mark the occasion and for people to talk through their experiences, thoughts and emotions.
“We will be sharing the space with members of Kendal Community Resilience Group who are helping prepare the town for the next emergency.”
