Armed forces veterans are invited to festive get-togethers organised by a Cumbrian council.

Westmorland and Furness Council is inviting armed forces veterans from across the area to join its chairman Cllr Doug Rathbone, for tea, coffee and a mince pie.

Cllr Rathbone said: “These gatherings are a small way for us to show our appreciation and say thank you to those who have served.

“It’s an opportunity to come together, share stories and celebrate the festive season with our local veterans.”

They will be held at:

  • Kendal Town Hall – Monday December 15 (10.30am to 11.30am)
  • Penrith Methodist Church – Tuesday December 16 (10am to noon)
  • Barrow Town Hall – Friday December 19 (10.30am to noon)
