
A man has been seriously injured after an early hours assault in Carlisle.
The man, in his 30s, was assaulted outside Smiley’s nightclub on Botchergate, shortly before 5am on Sunday.
He sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital.
Abu-Zahra Rabea, 28, of South View Terrace, Carlisle, has been charged by Cumbria Constabulary with wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.
Enquiries are ongoing and police said they would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time to help with the investigation.
